How to turn a PDF into TikTok-style study videos
Short answer: install LearnScroll on your iPhone, tap +, add the PDF (or slides, a Word doc, a photo of your notes), tap Create, and in 1 to 3 minutes you get a feed of short vertical videos, one key idea each, that you swipe through like TikTok. A quiz appears every 10 videos and spaced repetition brings older ones back.
What you need
- An iPhone or iPad on iOS 16.4 or later
- LearnScroll with a Pro subscription ($4.99/month, or $29.99/year, US prices)
- Your material: a PDF, PowerPoint (.pptx), Word (.docx) or text file, a photo of notes, or just a topic
Step by step
1. Install LearnScroll
Download LearnScroll: Study Shorts from the App Store. The intro asks a few questions (what you study, your goal) and ends on the upload screen.
2. Add your material
Tap + and pick a file from Files, choose a photo from your library, or take a photo of a page with the camera. No file? Tap No file? Type a topic and write what you want to learn, for example "Krebs cycle" or "causes of World War I".
3. Choose the language
Leave it on auto and LearnScroll detects English or Turkish from your material, or choose one yourself.
4. Tap Create
AI reads the material, splits it into key ideas and writes one short video per idea: bold captions over a looping clip, about the length of a TikTok. It usually takes 1 to 3 minutes. You can leave the app; a notification tells you when the feed is ready.
5. Scroll, then answer the quiz
Swipe up through the feed. Every 10 videos (at most once every 2 minutes) a quick multiple-choice quiz checks what stuck. Videos you have seen come back later through spaced repetition, so review happens without planning it.
Tips for better study videos
- Long textbook? Upload one chapter at a time. Each upload covers up to 150 key ideas in deep mode, and Pro includes 12 uploads a month, so a chapter per upload keeps every feed focused on one exam topic.
- Lecture slides work well. Slides already break a topic into ideas, so the videos map closely to what your teacher covered.
- Handwritten notes: take a clear, well-lit photo of each page.
- Before an exam, scroll the feed in short sessions over several days rather than once. That is what the spaced repetition is built for.
- Check key facts against your notes. Videos are made from your material, but AI can still make mistakes.
Other ways to turn a PDF into videos
LearnScroll is one approach: a feed of many short videos plus quizzes and spaced repetition, on iPhone. Other tools take different routes:
- PDF-to-brainrot generators make one video where an AI voice reads your text over gameplay footage. Good for a single fun pass, with no review system.
- Narrated slide summaries from AI notebook tools turn a document into a longer explainer video, closer to a lecture than a feed.
- Flashcard apps turn PDFs into cards rather than videos.
